Workshop on PAFEA 2019

Department of Automobile Engineering has recently organized a five day workshop on "Practical Aspects of Finite Element Analysis" during 02nd March to 06th March 2019. Mr. Gopal Singh Rathore from International Centre for Automotive Technology and Dr. Ashish Malik, faculty Automobile MUJ have shared their experience, knowledge and skills with participants.

The main objectives of this Workshop were to familiarize participants with the practical aspects of FEA and enable them to practice design in their respective domains. It was expected that those who are participating in workshops will afterwards be equipped to be able to make and modify design most appropriate for the targeted task in their domain area. The workshop proved to be beneficial majorly for students of automobile and mechanical engineering as the finite element analysis plays a pivotal role in the development of any new product or optimization of already existing product along with fault detection at any given stage. The application of this essential tool is widespread from automotive sector aerospace from aviation to production engineering and hence an in depth introduction to the topic brought the students a step closer to being industry ready.

The workshop kicked off with an inaugural ceremony on 02nd at TAPMI seminar hall with of Dean FoE, Director SAMM and HOD Automobile Engineering Dr. Anjaiah Devineni, as they shared their words of wisdom with the students. During the span of 05 days essential topics covered were 1D, 2D and 3D element meshing, linear static and dynamic analysis, theoretical introduction etc. There may be plenty of modules and videos available on internet but in here the students got to know about the basic concepts behind various analysis tools as to how they function and why they are essential at any given step during a product development and enhancement. The workshop witnessed a healthy student speaker relation where several queries and doubts were resolved that proved to be challenging on either ends.

Department has received positive feedback from both sides. The students were highly satisfied with workshop and were optimistic about participating again in times to come on a much higher level. Our guest from ICAT also shared a very positive feedback with reference to the level of participation demonstrated on student's end and the preparations done upon organizing aspect, and was even positive about such workshops in future. Workshop proved its agenda of being a bridge between students and industrial requirements and has now opened certain dimension for students to channelize their engineering orientation with.
