OVERVIEW

The Department of Physics, School of Basic Sciences was established at Manipal University Jaipur in 2011. The academic programs of the department include BSc (Hons)-Physics, MSc (Physics) and PhD.. The department conducts teaching courses for students of engineering disciplines and graduate/postgraduate courses for basic science students with Physics as major subject. The department is also involved in conducting interdisciplinary studies and research, with engineering and other basic science departments. The department is very active in teaching and research in areas of Material Science and Nanotechnology, along with the conventional courses.

KEY FEATURES

  • Contemporary topics like Nanotechnology have been introduced in the undergraduate and postgraduate courses
  • The department is equipped with state-of-art UG and PG labs, and a well-equipped laboratory to cater the first year students of all engineering programs
  • Workshops, symposium  and training sessions are arranged to enable students to learn and interact with scientists and researchers from all around the country on different specialised topics in physics
  • PG curriculum include courses like computer programming lab, numerical analysis, C/C++ programming which are important for the students to grow academically as researchers
  • PG theory courses are designed as per the UGC Model curricula for Physics which will help the students to qualify NET/GATE examination required for availing scholarships while pursuing the

FACULTY

‘Towards excellence with diversity”

A student graduating from FoS is ahead of graduates from other institutions in terms of basic theoretical, practical and overall knowledge. The Department of Physics, SBS, Faculty of Science, is the place for scientific research and university-level educational programs (UG/PG/PhD) in the field of pure and applied physics.
