OVERVIEW

 

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in Manipal University Jaipur in 2011. Ever since the inception, it has been imparting quality education to under graduate students. The Department presently fosters two PG courses. A good number of research scholars are carrying out research in various fields. The department aims to meet global changes in development, innovation and application of technology in the service of humanity. Many highly equipped research level laboratories is one of the key feather of the department. The faculty consists of eminent specialists from diverse fields and there is commendable research ambience in the Department.

Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Tiwari is currently working as Vice President, UltraTech Cement Ltd. He has a rich experience of over 34 years in Cement & Concrete Industry in diversified role of Technical Manager, Researcher, Consultant, Academician and Construction Engineer. He has led teams in Technical Services, Research & Consultancy with skill development, influencer management, brand development to product development, and consultancy for new set-ups of product development in the area of cement and concrete technology. As an academician he has worked with prestigious universities such as CEPT Ahmedabad and NIRMA University. He has taught various civil Engineering subjects including Concrete Constructions, Temporary Structures, Concrete Technology, Maintenance & Repair, and guided 35 research projects/dissertations. He has contributed to various professional bodies and research organizations in leading positions and member of important committees, such as, Elected Vice President, Indian Concrete Institute for 2010-11; and Elected Director – American Concrete Institute, India Chapter for 2009- 11 and 2013-17; member of American Concrete Institute (ACI) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) committees; member of board of studies at MNIT, Jaipur and MNNIT, Allahabad, NIT, Kurukshetra, GNDU, Amritsar, and AAI, Allahabad; member Research Advisory Board and Infrastructure Development Committee at National Council for Cement & Building Materials; member, Indian Road Congress- Rigid Pavement Division.

Prof. Petr Hajek Professor of Civil Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Vice Dean for Research and Head of Department of Architectural Engineering, Head of Division Architecture and Environment at University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB). His research focuses on sustainable construction of buildings, complex assessment and rating of building performance quality, LCA, optimization of concrete structures, and use of recycled materials. He is also a member of the CEN TC 350 committee and head of standardisation committee TNK149 responsible for implementation and translation of CEN 350 Standards into Czech Republic Chairman of fib (International Federation for Structural Concrete) Commission 7 – Sustainability and head of fib C7 TG C7.1 – Sustainable Concrete - general framework Board member of iiSBE – International Initiative for Sustainable Built Environment and chairman of CSBS iiSBE Czech – Czech Sustainable Building Society. Board member of CBS - Czech Concrete Society Editor-in-Chief of the journal Concrete TKS.
