PROGRAM DETAILS - Master of Fine Arts (Applied Arts)

OVERVIEW

The two-year M.F.A. in Applied Art Programme connects institutions and industries with the masses in an effective way. It is an intensive and creative program to serve as an effective educational platform for students to ignite the innovative passion in them and develop them for a highly creative job-oriented career. It has been designed in such a way that it meets the global standards of master’s Programme in Fine Arts, offered in other national and international universities of repute.

This programme aims to prepare students to work as professional Graphic Designers, Multimedia Designers, UX/UI Designers, Photographers, Typographers, Copy Writers, Exhibition Design and Display Designers and Product Designers. It equips students with advanced education in design with focus on management and research in design to create a multi-disciplinary approach to design and to develop skills for holistic conceptualization and manifestation of design schemes.

The teaching-learning process ranges from interactive sessions, discussions, workshops and presentations. Educationists, Scholars, Academicians, Advertising Industry Experts, Editors, Graphic Designers, Corporate Heads are invited for interactive sessions/ lectures to motivate and guide the students.

The program is highly innovative and job oriented leading to working opportunities in India and abroad in hospitality commercial sector healthcare and R&B sectors. Applied art degree apart from providing professional training at global standards also provides learners with non-academic benefits such as promoting self-esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness, cultural exposures, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity.

The growing need for higher education and advanced degree, BFA has laid to approach for introducing this programme. There are very few MFA courses in India which will help us establish a large base and eventually alumnus.

The overall mission of MFA (Applied Art) programme at Manipal University Jaipur, is to provide quality education to the students. Through qualified teaching professionals, the Department of Fine Arts aims to achieve the following objectives:

a) Innovative and creative ideas and methodologies.

b) Introducing Experience Design (UI/UX). Imparting knowledge and furthering research into the domain of designing interactive experiences in media, products and computer design applications. Enabling the aspiring practitioners with good analytical abilities, creative solutions, sensitive approach and knowledgeable about latest trends of interaction design industry.

c) Developing Design Portfolio. Explore the fundamental requirements of approaching a portfolio design, learning ways to collect, edit, assemble a portfolio and showcasing it through different offline/online mediums

d) Development of design for decoration of everyday products and objects to make them aesthetically pleasing and captivating.

e) An advanced learning in the artistic techniques that are used in Applied Arts.

f)  Artistic elements in business materials, promotions, and designs.

g) Use of elements of art that can make businesses and Entrepreneurship more profitable and products more effective.

h) Appropriate design skills needed for successfully operating in and contributing to the modern world of art.

i) Advanced research in the discipline through theoretical and practical components of study.

j) Candidates wishing for a more advanced level of understanding in the field of Design and contributing to research work, can further opt for higher courses such as Ph. D., M. Phil., etc. in the subject.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

This programme aims to prepare students to work as professional Graphic Designers, Multimedia Designers, UX/UI Designers, Photographers, Typographers, Copy Writers, Exhibition Design and Display Designers and Product Designers.

The students at Manipal University Jaipur have ample opportunities to participate in various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities all-round the year. The academic process is completely automated, with an Academic Management System in place.

The spacious and state-of-the-art Library at MUJ is adequately stocked with the requisite number of reference and textbooks, a large number of national and international journals, e-books and e-journals.  Students and faculties are given online access to many e-books/courses, from Pearson, NPTEL, etc.

Many indoor and outdoor facilities, through various Student Clubs, are available to students for sports, cultural and technical activities outside the classroom. The Student Activity Area (SAC) and the Amphitheatre are places where students think, imagine, connect, reflect, and innovate.

10 +2+3(BFA-AA, BVA- AA) with minimum 50% marks in bachelor’s degree.
