Journal Description

In contemporary times, the subject domains of economics are transforming. The changing dynamics are acquiring an increasingly important role. The Journal aims to provide a platform for high quality conceptual, innovative, imaginative & empirical research in the broad dimensions of economics which will augment the discourse to address the problems of sustainable growth and development. The Editorial Board is constituted with experts from leading institutions and cover a diverse range of expertise. The Journal provides the readers with a broad spectrum of high-quality, thought-provoking papers. The Editorial Board is committed to providing rapid feedback to the submitting authors. The Editors welcome contributions from heterodox economics as well as other social science disciplines.


Aims and Scope

VASUDHA: Journal of Sustainable Development is Annual Journal of the Department of Economics, Manipal University Jaipur Rajasthan. VASUDHA provides economists and academicians with a special forum for publishing their work in the understanding of economics as well as empirical policy analysis of economic issues in a broader context. The journal covers all the areas of economic sciences globally. VASUDHA is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal and publishes invited editorials, original research articles, review articles, case reports/ case studies and book reviews on promising new theoretical developments, and comparative economic analysis.

Author Guidelines

Instructions to Authors

Authors should submit their manuscripts through email to the editor at Once the article is received by the editor, the same will be acknowledged and a manuscript id shall be assigned. The manuscript will be subjected to a double-blind peer-review process. The authors shall be asked to make minor/major revisions based on referees’ comments and shall resubmit the manuscript after making necessary corrections. Manuscripts not recommended for publication by referees shall not be returned to authors but the decision to that effect will be communicated. Accepted papers will be processed further for publication.


Preparing a Manuscript:

The manuscript should be in Microsoft Word format (preferably in .doc, or .docx, format) The language of the manuscript must be simple and explicit. Author’s/Co-author’s name or any other identification should not appear anywhere in the body of the manuscript to facilitate blind review.

Articles are accepted under the following heads:

a. Invited Editorial

b. Original Research Articles

c. Review Articles

d. Case Reports/Case Study

e. Book Review



An invited editorial is through invitation only and the editor may find a suitable person to contribute to an invited editorial. Unsolicited articles submitted as “Invited Editorial” shall be rejected without any reason.


It should be arranged as follows:

1) Title page

2) Abstract

3) Keywords

4) Introduction and review of literature

5) Data and Research Methods

6) Results

7) Discussion

8) Conclusion/Summary

9) Acknowledgement

10) References

11) Tables

12) Figures

The total word count normally should not exceed 8000 (including tables and figure legends).


These should contain a title page, summary and keywords. The text should be written under appropriate sub-headings. The authors are encouraged to use flowcharts, boxes, simple tables and figures for better presentation. The total word count normally should not exceed 5000 and the total number of figures and tables normally should not be more than 10.



CHECKLIST • Cover letter • Copyright statement signed by all authors • Soft copy of manuscript • Title page • Title of manuscript • Full name(s) and affiliations of author(s); institution(s) and city (ies) from which the work originated. • Name, address, phone and e-mail address of the corresponding author • Running title • Number of pages, number of figures and number of tables. • Abstract along with title, keywords and running title. • Article proper (double spaced) • Acknowledgements (separate sheet) • References • Tables • Figures/photographs and legends • Permissions to reproduce published material


Declaration of interest

All authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. For Example, potential competing interests include occupational engagement, consultancies, stock proprietorship, honorarium, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or any other funding.



Peer Review

This journal operates through a double-blind review process. All contributions will be initially assessed by the editor for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles.


Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism is when an author attempts to pass off someone else work as his or her own, without full acknowledgement and citation. MUJ is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and to supporting ethical research practices we adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers. Here at MUJ we expect that references made in a manuscript or article to another person’s work or idea will be credited appropriately. Equally, we expect authors to gain all appropriate permissions before publication.

By submitting Author(s) manuscript to the journal it is understood that it is an original manuscript and is unpublished work and is not under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarism, including duplicate publication of the author's work, in whole or in part without proper citation is not tolerated by the journal. Manuscripts submitted to the journal may be checked for similarity index using software such as Turnitin, and Urkund. The manuscripts in which the plagiarism is detected are handled based on the extent of the plagiarism.

  • 8- 30% similarity index: The manuscript will not be given an ID and the manuscript is sent back to the author for content revision.
  • >30% similarity index: The manuscript will be rejected without review. The authors are advised to revise the manuscript and resubmit the manuscript.
