The two year M.A. in English programme offers a varied range of literatures written in English--covering popular and new literatures. The Master of Arts programme in English has been designed in such a way that it meets the global standards of Master’s Programme in English, offered in other national and international universities of repute. This programme aims to generate interest in literature, and helps to inculcate a spirit of critical enquiry, analytical and creative faculties in students. The programme begins with a basic introduction to English literature, its various sources and forms. A gamut of inter-disciplinary courses covers English Studies (novels, poetry and drama), Linguistics, Translation Studies, Gender Studies, World Literatures, Film Studies, etc. The students are also exposed to new areas of literature and literary studies including criticism and literary theory, that matches with the syllabus of UGC NET.
The teaching-learning process ranges from interactive sessions, discussions, workshops and presentations. Educationists, scholars, critics, writers, poets, editors, corporate heads are invited for interactive sessions/ lectures to motivate and guide the students. The learners will also get opportunities to take discipline specific elective courses.
The MA English programme promotes humanistic & literary values and emphasis on critical reading, thinking and writing to develop scope of employability in Teaching, Editing, Writing, Publishing, Web Content Writing, Media, Translation, Public Relations, Freelance Writing, Writing Poetry, Corporate Training, and Screenplay Writing.

The overall mission of MA English programme at Manipal University Jaipur, is to provide quality education to the students. Through qualified teaching professionals, the Department of Languages aims to achieve the following objectives:
a) Acquire appropriate methods and approaches to study English literature
b) Understand diverse strategies of textual interpretation appropriate to different literary genres
c) Appreciate diversity of literary voices drawn from different social/cultural backgrounds
d) Nurture and develop employability skills through literary studies
e) Help learners gain knowledge and ideas needed to conduct research in the field of literature
f) Develop the required analytical, critical, and application oriented skills in literature
g) Prepare students to take national and international level examination related to the discipline
The students at Manipal University Jaipur have ample opportunities to participate in various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities all-round the year. The academic process is completely automated, with an Academic Management System in place.
The spacious and state-of-the-art Library at MUJ is adequately stocked with the requisite number of reference and text-books, a large number of national and international journals, e-books and e-journals. Students and faculties are given online access to many e-books/courses, from Pearson, NPTEL, etc.
Many indoor and outdoor facilities, through various Student Clubs, are available to students for sports, cultural and technical activities outside the classroom. The Student Activity Area (SAC) and the Amphitheatre are places where students think, imagine, connect, reflect, and innovate.
