Department of Psychology, Manipal University Jaipur organized a social connect field visit for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Psychology on 12th September 2025. Around 30 students, accompanied by faculty members, visited the Government Seth Anandi Lal Poddar Senior Secondary School for the Deaf and Dumb, Jaipur. The purpose of this visit was to expose students to the real-life experiences of children with hearing and speech impairments and to understand the psychological, social, and educational challenges they face.

During the visit, the students were introduced to the functioning of the school, its specialized teaching methods, and the use of alternative communication strategies. Educators highlighted the significance of inclusive education and the role of community participation in empowering differently-abled children. The students also interacted with the children through engaging activities, games, and performances that encouraged mutual bonding and understanding.

This experiential learning opportunity provided students with deeper insights into the application of community psychology concepts and the importance of empathy, sensitivity, and advocacy in promoting inclusivity. The visit concluded with students carrying valuable reflections on how psychologists can contribute to the well-being and development of children with special needs.
