With a commitment to bring justice closer to the people, Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) in association with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), organized a Legal Awareness Camp at the Legal Aid Centre (Near the Bus Stop) Manipal University Jaipur. The initiative aimed at empowering the neighboring villagers and the general public by creating awareness about their rights and the remedies available to them under law.
The programme was graced by eminent guests as Mr. Pawan Kumar Jeenwal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority and Additional District & Sessions Judge, Jaipur, Rajasthan, Ms. Shobhal Singh, CEO and Founder President of Surya Uday Organization, and Mr. Ganesh Kumawat, Sarpanch, Gram Panchayat Dehmi Kalan, Sanganer. Addressing the gathering, they emphasized that legal awareness is the first step towards social and economic justice. They assured that through the efforts of the Legal Aid Centre, continuous support will be extended to women, children, elders etc, fostering equality and inclusiveness as envisioned by the Constitution of India and instrumentalized through the collective efforts of the students, faculty, and DLSA Panel Lawyer.
The MUJ Leadership present on the occasion included, Pro President (Pro VC) Prof. (Dr.) Karunakar A. Kotegar, Dean, School of Law, Prof. (Dr.) Bharti Kumar, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Laxmi (Chairperson, Legal Aid Cell), and HoD, School of Law, Dr. Sonu Agrawal, who warmly welcomed the guests with bouquets and presented mementos as tokens of appreciation. They addressed the villagers and encouraged them to stay connected with the Legal Aid Centre (near the bus stop), assuring that the University is committed to addressing their grievances and guiding them towards solutions.
The camp reaffirmed that justice is not confined to courtrooms but must be ensured at the ground level through non-formal mechanisms including mediation, conciliation etc. Its main objective was to empower villagers with knowledge of their rights, the remedies available to them, and practical pathways to resolve their problems. This initiative reflects Manipal University Jaipur’s belief that true education goes beyond classrooms - it reaches the community, uplifts the marginalized, and nurtures equality.
