The School of Architecture & Design (SA&D), Faculty of Science, Technology and Architecture (FoSTA), Manipal University Jaipur, organized a day-long expert session and hands-on workshop titled “Sketching as Storytelling in Architecture” for first-year B.Arch students on 31st July 2025. The session was conducted by Ar. Shweta Hingane, Founder of The ArchArt, a globally followed platform that empowers young architects and designers through visual storytelling. The event was designed as part of the foundational academic activities to help students understand the importance of sketching not just as a technical skill, but as a means to communicate architectural ideas, capture observations, and develop a personal narrative through design. The session aimed to build confidence among students as they begin their journey into architectural education by providing them with a creative platform to express their thoughts and design interpretations. This initiative aligns with SA&D’s commitment to experiential learning and industry-academia integration, bringing in practitioners who can share real-world perspectives with budding architects. Through this workshop, students were exposed to the value of drawing as a process, the discipline of observation, and the power of visual storytelling, all of which are essential tools in the architectural design process.
