Venue : Manipal University Jaipur @
Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, School of Arts, Manipal University Jaipur is pleased to announce a two-day national seminar on “Decolonising Narratives: Revisiting Janjatiya Culture and Epistemologies” in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research under the special call of Janjatiya Gaurav (Tribal Pride) Seminars. This seminar aims to create a vibrant platform for scholars, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to critically engage with the processes of decolonisation in the context of Janjatiya communities, foregrounding their Asmita (identity), Astitva (existence), and Vikas (development). The seminar seeks to challenge dominant narratives shaped by colonial and post-colonial frameworks, which have historically marginalised tribal voices and epistemologies. Janjatiya cultures, as global repositories of unique knowledge systems, ecological wisdom, and cultural diversity, have often been excluded from mainstream discourse. This marginalisation has not only eroded tribal identities and practices but has also constrained their potential contributions to pressing global challenges.
The seminar embraces the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for overall societal development, viz:
SDG 4: Quality Education
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
