Skill development Training program on Sustainable 3D Modeling and Printing

Emerging technologies such as 3D Modeling & Printing is revolutionizing how scientific research, education, and innovation are conducted. From prototyping biological structures to simulating molecular interactions, these tools offer transformative possibilities for students and researchers in basic and applied sciences.

3D printing can facilitate the product design with complex geometries and tailored properties. Reactants and catalysts can be directly printed into reactors, simplifying chemical reactions like heterogeneous catalysis, which is critical for commercial-scale application.

However, there remains a significant gap in the practical exposure and technical training in these areas among undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral scholars. To bridge this gap, the School of Physical and Biological Sciences and Department of Mechatronics engineering are planning to organize a skill development training program for the students, which proposes a hands-on, interdisciplinary learning experience that integrates these technologies into scientific research and pedagogy.

Objectives:

  • To introduce the foundational principles of 3D Printing.
  • To provide hands-on training in designing, modeling, and implementing 3D-printed.
  • To showcase real-world applications of these technologies in fields such as Science, Engineering, Design and Architecture.
  • To encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation among academia & industry.
  • To build a community of practice that can further help students to delve into research & innovation.
