The School of Architecture & Design, under the Faculty of Science, Technology & Architecture, in collaboration with the Heritage Club, Manipal University Jaipur, organized a one-day educational tour titled “Exploring the Cultural Fabric and Vernacular Heritage of Himachal” on 4th April 2025.
This experiential academic excursion focused on engaging with the vernacular architectural identity and cultural richness of Himachal Pradesh. Through guided exploration of Pragpur—India’s first designated heritage village—and the hill town of McLeodganj, students experienced the synergy between built form, traditional practices, and cultural expression in Himalayan settlements.
The visit was aimed at instilling appreciation for regional architecture, spatial planning, and community-led heritage preservation, all of which are central to sustainable and context-sensitive design thinking.
