WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATIONS AT MUJ CAMPUS

In celebration of World Environment Day, Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) organized a bamboo plantation event, highlighting the importance of sustainability. The event was hosted by the Faculty of Design and the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) student chapter, and it took place at the construction yard of the MUJ Campus.

India is the second-largest producer of bamboo in the world, and it holds significant potential for reducing our carbon footprint. Bamboo significantly contributes to soil health and carbon sequestration, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. Additionally, it grows very fast, making it an excellent resource for sustainable development.

The event saw the enthusiastic participation of MUJ's faculty, non-teaching members, and supporting staff. MUJ President Dr. G.K. Prabhu inaugurated the event by planting the first bamboo tree. Joining him were Pro-President Commodore Dr. Jawahar M. Jangir, Registrar Dr. Nitu Bhatnagar, and Faculty of Design Dean Prof. (Dr.) Madhura Yadav. In total, ten bamboo trees were planted, symbolizing MUJ's dedication to environmental sustainability.

Dr. G.K. Prabhu highlighted the importance of organizing such initiatives to promote sustainable development and encouraged the MUJ community to continue engaging in activities that benefit the environment. The event underscored MUJ's dedication to creating awareness and developing a culture of sustainability on campus.
