The workshop commenced with introductory remarks by Dr. Eva Sharma and a welcome address by Prof. Richa Arora. The session was designed to familiarize participants with the financial and strategic aspects of startup development.

The speaker discussed the startup funding lifecycle, covering bootstrapping, angel investment, seed funding, venture capital financing, and exit opportunities such as acquisitions and IPOs. Various funding instruments including equity, debt, convertible notes, grants, crowdfunding, and revenue-based financing were explained.

Participants gained insights into investor expectations and learned how to prepare effective pitch decks. The session covered key pitch-deck components such as problem identification, solution presentation, market opportunity, business model, competition analysis, product roadmap, financial projections, and funding requirements. Airbnb’s pitch deck was used as a practical case study.

The workshop also introduced participants to valuation methodologies, ownership calculations, equity dilution, cap tables, and critical financial metrics such as EBITDA, CAC, LTV, gross margin, burn rate, runway, and churn rate. Special emphasis was placed on budgeting, cash-flow management, lean financial planning, and due diligence requirements.

The session concluded with a discussion on common fundraising mistakes and the importance of compliance, intellectual property protection, and robust financial documentation. The interactive nature of the workshop enabled participants to clarify doubts and gain practical insights into building investment-ready startups.
