The Department of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, School of Arts, Faculty of Management, Commerce & Arts, Manipal University Jaipur, organized International Expert Guest Lecture on the topic “Comparative Analysis of Plato's and Aristotle's World of Forms” by Professor Simeon Annan Mohansingh, Faculty of Philosophy in the Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus (THE Ranked).
The lecture explored one of philosophy’s most enduring debates between Plato and his student Aristotle on the nature of reality. Plato proposes that true knowledge lies in a perfect, eternal realm of Forms beyond the physical world, while Aristotle argues that reality and form exist within the material world we experience. By examining their contrasting views on knowledge, essence, and perfection, the lecture highlighted the tension between idealism and empirical inquiry, encouraging reflection on whether truth lies beyond our senses or within everyday experience and human understanding.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our esteemed speaker for illuminating the profound philosophical dialogue with such clarity and precision. Your engaging exposition has inspired us to think more critically about the world we inhabit.
