The expert lecture on “Planning Principles and Design Strategies for Sustainable Group Housing”, conducted on 17th March 2026 as part of the Architectural Design Housing Studio, was an important academic initiative aimed at enhancing the understanding of B.Arch Third Year students in the domain of group housing design. The session was delivered by Dr. Manish Sharma, Assistant Professor, MNIT Jaipur, who brought valuable academic and research-based insights into sustainable housing and urban development.
The lecture focused on key aspects such as planning principles, density optimization, site planning, circulation systems, infrastructure integration, and sustainability in residential design. The expert emphasized the importance of developing housing solutions that are environmentally responsible, socially inclusive, and contextually responsive.
By bridging theoretical knowledge with practical insights, the session enabled students to critically evaluate and refine their ongoing housing studio projects. It encouraged the integration of sustainable strategies and real-world considerations into design proposals, thereby strengthening their overall design approach.
Aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), the event highlighted the role of architects in shaping sustainable and resilient residential environments. The session provided students with a broader perspective on contemporary housing challenges and equipped them with tools to address them effectively in their academic and future professional practice.
