With the collaboration of MUJ-TEC, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at School of Physical and Biological Sciences is willing to organize a One Week ICT-based FDP on “MATLAB Essentials for Science and Engineering” from 09/03/2026 to 13/03/2026. This event will be conducted by NITTTR Chandigarh in association with Manipal University Jaipur as a Remote Centre.

Objectives of Course:

• To develop proficiency among faculty members and research scholars in the effective use of MATLAB for numerical computation, modeling, and data analysis in science and engineering.
• To strengthen teaching methodologies and research capabilities through structured, hands-on training aligned with contemporary academic and industrial practices.

The course contents are:

• Introduction to MATLAB environment and basic programming constructs.
• MATLAB syntax, variables, data types, and built-in functions
• Matrix operations, linear algebra, and numerical computations
• Control flow: conditional statements and loops
• Script files and function files
• Data visualization: 2D and 3D plotting, graphical representation, and customization
• Numerical methods for science and engineering applications
• Solving ordinary differential equations using MATLAB
• Case studies and hands-on applications relevant to science and engineering disciplines
