The Two-Day National Conference on “Bharatiya Bhasha Pariwar: Reconstructing the Indian Linguistic Tradition and Civilization” is an academic initiative organized by the Department of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Manipal University Jaipur, in collaboration with Bhartiya Bhasha Samiti (Ministry of Education, Government of India).
The conference aims to bring together linguists, educators, researchers, scholars, and policy experts to deliberate upon two major scholarly works:
The event seeks to critically examine colonial frameworks imposed on Indian linguistics and propose an indigenous, civilization-based understanding of India’s multilingual tradition. The focus is on decolonizing linguistic studies, promoting mother-tongue education, strengthening multilingual unity, and exploring future applications in education, policy, translation, and digital innovation.
Track 1: Theoretical Shifts – Decolonizing Indian Linguistics
Focus on indigenous linguistic frameworks, critique of colonial historiography, and civilizational continuity.
Track 2: Multidisciplinary Evidence – Beyond Words
Integration of archaeology, anthropology, genetics, mathematics, and astronomy to understand linguistic antiquity.
Track 3: The Grammar of Unity – Structural Commonalities
Exploration of India as a linguistic area (Sprachbund), including phonological, morphological, and syntactic convergences.
Track 4: Horizons – Pedagogy, Policy & Digital Future
Applications in education, AI-based language tools, preservation of oral traditions, and alignment with National Education Policy.
The conference will include paper presentations, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and scholarly reviews, creating a strong academic platform for re-envisioning Indian linguistic traditions.
