Seminar on “Machine Learning and its Application with Example in Own Marks Prediction” by Dr. Hemant Meena, Associate Professor, MNIT, Jaipur

FROM 13 Nov 2025 TO 13 Nov 2025

Venue : Manipal University Jaipur (Hybrid Mode) @ 11:30 AM

The Department of Electrical Engineering, MUJ, organized a seminar on the topic “Machine Learning and its Application with Example in Own Marks Prediction”. The session provided students with a clear and structured introduction to the fundamentals of Machine Learning (ML) and its practical applications. Participants learned about the key categories of ML—supervised and unsupervised learning—and how machines use data patterns to make informed predictions. The resource person explained the importance of data quality, feature selection, and algorithm choice in building reliable models. A major part of the session focused on regression techniques, including linear and nonlinear regression, used for predicting numerical outcomes. Students were shown how these methods can be applied to estimate their own marks based on input data. The differences between regression and classification algorithms were also highlighted, along with simple real-life examples where classification is widely used. The practical segment of the session involved Python-based demonstrations, using essential libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn. A hands-on example on marks prediction helped students understand data preprocessing, model training, testing, visualization, and performance evaluation. The session encouraged students to view machine learning as a multidisciplinary field that integrates mathematics, statistics, programming, and analytical thinking. It motivated them to explore ML-based problem-solving and apply these techniques to academic, research, and real-world scenarios. Overall, the session effectively strengthened both conceptual and practical understanding of machine learning.
