Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Dr Raviraja is currently working as Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Prior to this, he had worked at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal for 37 years. During his tenure at MIT, Manipal, he had also discharged various administrative responsibilities such as Associate Director – Research & Consultancy for 7 years and Associate Director – Academics for 5.5 years. He has more than 60 publications in international journals and conferences of repute. He had guided 4 research scholars for PhD in the area of Biomechanics and presently guiding one candidate for PhD in the same area. His areas of research interest are Biomechanics, Finite Element Methods, Tribology in Manufacturing, Machining of Metals and Composites.

Dr Raviraja joined Manipal University Jaipur on February 21, 2025 and holds Bachelor's, Master’s and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He earned his B E and M Tech degrees from Mysore University with first class with distinction, in 1986 and 1993 respectively. He earned his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Mysore in 2003.
