Dr Ashima Bagaria

Dr Ashima is a Professor in the Department of Physics and has been associated with the department since 2014. She has served as the Head of the Department of Physics from October 2020-December 2024. She obtained her PhD from the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Karnataka. She has more than 17 years of research and teaching experience. Her research experience includes her post-doctoral experience at the Yale School of Medicine, Yale University, Connecticut USA, an Ivy League University, Brookhaven National Laboratory, New York, USA and Institute Pasteur, Paris, France.

Dr Ashima is a recipient of NSF (National Science Foundation, USA), NIH (National Institute of Health, USA) and ANR (Agence nationale de la recherche, National Agency for Research, France) fellowships. While working with various Institutions, she has published research papers/articles in journals of international repute. Her work on structural biophysics has found place in “NATURE Structure Biology”, the coveted Nature publication. She has presented more than 50 research papers in various conferences in India & abroad.

She is also a recipient of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Visiting Scientist Award, DST Women Scientist award, Young Investigator award from the Department of Biotechnology, DBT, India. She was also a recipient of JRF and SRF from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-JRF/SRF) during her PhD tenure. She is also an associate member of IAPS (Indian Academy of Physical Sciences) and editorial member of Vijnan-Sandhan, the Newsletter of IAPS. She has successfully completed externally funded projects and grants from MUJ.
