Head, Department of Data Science & Engineering

Dr Akhilesh Kumar Sharma is the HoD – Department of Data Science & Engineering, Manipal University Jaipur, with effect from December 01, 2022. He is currently working as Professor – Department of Information Technology, School of Information, Security and Data Science, Manipal University Jaipur.

Dr Akhilesh Kumar Sharma received his Ph.D. (Computer Science & Engineering) in 2016 from SPSU Udaipur, M.Tech. (Computer Science & Engineering) in 2009 from IET-DAVV University Indore and B.E. (Computer Science & Engineering) in 2003 from RGTU Bhopal, India. He has a rich and diversified experience of more than 18 Years in academics & research. He has been associated with Manipal University Jaipur since July 2016. He has also established research facility named as CIDCR laboratory of Information Technology department, Manipal University Jaipur.

He is currently heading the Professional Chapter of ACM in Jaipur region and currently acting as Secretary of ACM Professional Chapter Jaipur (Rajasthan). He is a member of Machine intelligence Research labs (USA). He is an active researcher in the domain of Machine Learning, Data Analytics and Data Science. He has a good exposure of managing professional chapters and recently organized ACM COMPUTE 2022 Conference (Sponsored by ACM India Council). He is also ACM Students Chapter faculty coordinator for the last 5 years. He has authored 14 high impact quality research articles in various peer-reviewed (SCI indexed/Scopus) International Journals, 3 books (authored), 4 chapters in book series, and more than 35 research papers in peer-reviewed International/National conference proceedings. He has also worked in a team of NBA and NAAC Committees at Manipal University Jaipur. He is currently supervising 03 Ph.D. Scholars. He has travelled India and abroad to deliver several high-quality invited talks and expert lectures at national and international platforms and chaired various technical sessions in conferences of high repute.

He is a regular reviewer of research articles for many high impact journals such as IEEE Access (IEEE), IEI Journal, International Journal of Reliable Intelligent Environments (Springer), International Journal of Fuzzy Systems etc. He is a Senior Member of IEEE (USA) and Senior Member of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery-USA), and IEI (Institution of Engineers-India). He also having experience of managing International collaborations and heading as Nodal Officer for 3 international MoUs by which Manipal University Jaipur faculties and students getting benefitted. He has 3 copyrights, 5 patents published and 1 granted. In collaboration with many external agencies, various high quality FDPs and workshops were also organized by him at Manipal University Jaipur. Under his supervision, MUJ-ACM Students Chapter has won various awards of National and International level.
