Head, Department of Computer and Communication Engineering

Dr Sunil Kumar is the HoD – Department of Computer and Communication Engineering, Manipal University Jaipur, with effect from September 01, 2023. He is currently working as Professor – Department of Computer and Communication Engineering, School of Computing and Intelligent Systems, Manipal University Jaipur.

He has received his Ph.D. (Engineering) in 2015 and Master of Technology (Computer Science and Engineering) in 2002. He has qualified national exams like GATE (Computer Science and Engineering), UGC-NET etc. He has a rich and diverse experience of more than 21 years in academics, research, and administration. He has been associated with Manipal University Jaipur since December 2017. Prior to joining Manipal University Jaipur, he has served at Mody University of Science and Technology, Lakshmangarh, and Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar at various academic positions.

At MUJ, he was a nucleus member in E-Cell in 2019-2021 and founder coordinator of Institute Innovation Council (IIC) and led the team for first ARIIA rankings in top 50 band. He is coordinator of department examination cell, BoS, and KPI team. Invariably, he has led the faculty team for many activities like curriculum conclaves, OBE awareness sessions, academic audits, curriculum development etc. He is a recipient of MUJ Excellence Award-2022. He is also faculty mentor of MUJ student technical club “Turing Sapiens”.

Dr Sunil is an active researcher in the domain of Machine Intelligence, Image Forensics, Efficient Cloud Infrastructure, and IoT. He has authored more than 30 research articles in peer-reviewed (SCI indexed/Scopus) international journals and conferences and has 08 IPRs to his credit. He is supervising 05 PhD theses. He is an active reviewer of peer-reviewed journals like Information Sciences (Elsevier), IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India) etc. He has been NVIDIA DLI University ambassador. He has organised many workshops and FDPs, the notable one is ATAL FDP on “Deep Learning and Computer Vision” in 2022 funded by AICTE. He has been working as subject expert with AICTE and was invited in Smart India Hackathon-2022 at IIT BHU as evaluator. He is senior member of professional societies like ACM, IEEE, CSI etc.
