The Department of Physics, Manipal University Jaipur has organized an outreach activity entitled "Science Awareness Camp" at Government Senior Secondary School, Bagru on 3rd Dec'2019 from 10:30 am to 01:00 pm. The objective of the event was to inculcate scientific aptitude in the school students and make them aware about future possibilities in science. On reaching the school all the delegates (students and faculty) of Manipal University were warmly welcomed by students, teachers and the Principal (Mr. Sitaram Kasotiya) of school. In total 86 students of 12th standard and 14 students of Manipal University Jaipur participated in the event. Dr Rashi Nathawat (event-coordinator) introduced Dean (FOS), HOD (Physics Department) and other faculty to the students and teachers. The camp commenced with the interaction of Dean (FOS), Prof. Anoop Mukhopadhyay with students, who shared his journey as a scientist and encouraged them to peruse career in science. Followed by the presentation of Head, Dept. of Physics, Dr. Pushpendra Kumar who gave insight into various academic and research activities at MUJ. Also the career related queries of students were addressed in this session.
A poster-competition was organized for the students based on Department of Science and Technology (DST) National Science Day-2019 theme 'Science for people and people for science'. The event was coordinated by Dr. Kamakhya P. Mishra, Dr. Satyapal S. Rathore, and Dr. Uvais V.N. The student displayed the works of eminent scientists as well as their own ideas ranging from current to futuristic technologies. Further, a quiz for the class 12th science students was organized by Dr. Rashi Nathawat and Dr. Reenu Gill, in which all students participated very actively. The winners of both the competitions were encouraged by giving gifts. At the end of the event a memento was given to the principle and all teachers as a token of appreciation from Manipal University Jaipur. It was a pleasant experience for all of us to interact with young minds and answer their quires.
