MoU between Manipal University Jaipur, India and Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal

The department of CCE initiated the MoU with Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal which was signed on 5th March 2019. Prof. Rafael Caldeirinha, Head of Research Group on Antennas & Propagation - Leiria, Instituto Telecomunicações, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, PORTUGAL signed on behalf of of Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. The MoU is going to play a key role in collaborative work between the institutes which include:

1. Research project

2. Conference partnership

3. Summer Training Program

4. Faculty exchange- as visiting faculty, researcher or PDF

The partner institute, Instituto Telecomunicações (IT), IP Lieria is a private, not-for-profit organization, of public interest, a partnership of nine institutions with research and development in the field of Telecommunications. IT mission is to create and disseminate scientific knowledge in the field of telecommunications. IT is actively involved in fundamental and applied research both at national and international levels. IT also plays its role towards public society with public awareness initiatives, knowledge transfers to industry, and by providing consulting services on a non-competing basis. IT members (about 260 PhD holders) are organized into research groups which cover most of the R&D areas in Telecommunications and supporting sciences and technologies. Each year IT is involved in more than 170 projects, of which about 30 have European funding, obtained in a competitive basis. Partner Institution QS World Ranking is in the top 20 in Portugal.

Key objectives/advantages of the MoU include-

• with this partner can cover a large number of institutes in Portugal since it has a vast number of researchers working in and around the country.
• Research collaboration: Joint research project will be devised under the terms of . The proposed partner has good number of ongoing European projects which can further lead to more collaborations.
• The MoU aims to provide easy collaboration for joint conference or seminar conduction at MUJ.
• The association with this partner institution has of student exchange. The objective is to have more number of students coming from the partner institution to MUJ.
