Dr Ashima Bagaria is Head of the Department of Physics, School of Basic Sciences, Manipal University Jaipur with effect from October 1, 2020.

Dr Ashima Bagaria did her BSc and MSc from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. She obtained her PhD from the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Karnataka. She has more than 12 years of research and teaching experience. Her research experience includes her Post-doctoral experience at the School of Medicine, Yale University, an Ivy League University, Connecticut USA, Brookhaven National Laboratory, New York, USA and Institute Pasteur, Paris, France. She is a recipient of NSF (National Science Foundation, USA) and NIH (National Institute of Health, USA) fellowships. While working with various Institutions, she has published book chapters and research papers/articles in journals of international repute. Her work on structural biophysics has found place in “NATURE Structure Biology” publishing as “Molecule of the Month”. She has presented more than 15 research papers in various conferences in India & abroad. She is a recipient of Young Investigator award from the Department of Biotechnology, DBT, India and a recipient of JRF and SRF from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-JRF/SRF) during her PhD tenure. She has entered collaboration with many researchers from IIT Jodhpur, IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, MNIT Jaipur, CURAJ, Birla Institute of Scientific research etc. to name a few. She has reviewed various SERB projects and is a reviewer for international journals.

Dr. Ashima has also given lectures in UGC refresher and orientation programs. She has played an important role in many conferences, workshops, DST Inspire Science Camps, Rajasthan Science Congress, Convocation etc at MUJ. She has successfully completed seed money projects from MUJ and has an external project grant to her credit. Under her supervision, one student has completed PhD and four are working towards the same, in different domains of Biophysics/Nanobiotechnology.
