Prof. (Dr.) ANTHONY SAVARI RAJ is Professor of Philosophy and has been the founding Head, Department of Arts, at Manipal University Jaipur. He joined MUJ in June 2012.

He obtained his PhD degree in Philosophy at University of Madras in 1995, where he has also served as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer for more than a decade.

His areas of interest and expertise include INTERCULTURAL PHILOSOPHY and is a leading and widely acknowledged scholar in this field.

He has enjoyed several National and International Research Fellowships, such as the Charles Wallace Visiting Fellowship, University of Bristol, UK, in 1996 (Oct-Dec) and Woodstock International Visiting Fellowship, Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., USA, in 2004-5.

Member in prestigious professional associations and Editorial Board Member of several scholarly national and international journals, he has to his credit three books including an European academic publication: A New Hermeneutic of Reality: Raimon Panikkar’s Cosmotheandric Vision (Berlin, Paris, New York, et al: Peter Lang AG, 1998), and numerous research projects and presentations. He is a widely published author in several reputed national and international journals.

He has been a Visiting Professor of Philosophy in several prestigious institutions of India, including Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Madras) and has enjoyed a 2012-2013 FULBRIGHT-NEHRU VISITING LECTURESHIP at George Mason University (Department of Religious Studies), Fairfax, VA, USA.

Prof. Anthony recently has had the honour of serving as ICCR Chair of Indian Studies (deputed by Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India) at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica, from Nov 2019 to Aug 2021.
