The Department of Hotel Management, TAPMI School of Business, FoMCA, Manipal University Jaipur, in collaboration with MUJ-TEC, successfully organized a Six-Day Online International Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Transformative Hospitality Education for the Future: Pedagogy, Industry Relevance, Assessment, and Faculty Excellence” from 25th to 30th May 2026. The programme was convened by Mr. Birendra Kishore Roy under the guidance of Chef. (Dr.) Saurabh Sharma, Head of the Department, and Dr. Brajesh Kumar, Dean, FoMCA.
On Day 1, the inaugural session commenced with the welcome address by the Convener, followed by the formal inauguration by Chef. (Dr.) Saurabh Sharma. Prof. (Dr.) Brajesh Kumar, Dean, FoMCA, and Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Laxmi Sharma, Director, MUJ-TEC, addressed the participants and emphasized the significance of faculty development in contemporary hospitality education. The session was moderated by Dr. Amit Datta, who introduced the keynote speaker and facilitated the proceedings.
Throughout the six days, each session began with the Convener circulating the Google Meet link to participants and resource persons, welcoming the attendees, and inviting the Head of the Department to address the gathering. Faculty moderators then introduced the session chairs and keynote speakers. Eminent experts including Prof. (Dr.) Varinder Singh Rana, Prof. (Dr.) Yashwant Rawal, Prof. (Dr.) Gaurav Bathla, Prof. (Dr.) Vimal A. Shukla, Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Dahiya, Prof. (Dr.) Amrik Singh, Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Narayan, Prof. (Dr.) Durgesh Batra, and Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Laxmi Sharma delivered insightful sessions on AI integration in hospitality education, global hospitality trends, responsible conduct of research, outcome-based education, technology-enabled teaching, curriculum development, mentoring, leadership, assessment practices, and quality assurance.
Each session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment managed by the faculty moderators in the presence of the Convener. Feedback forms and session assignments were circulated before the conclusion of every session through Google Meet chat and participants’ WhatsApp groups. The FDP witnessed active participation, meaningful academic discussions, and collaborative learning, culminating in a valedictory session that reflected on key learnings, collected participant feedback, and encouraged the adoption of future-ready teaching practices in hospitality and tourism education.
