It is a matter of pride that the short film titled 'Umeedon Ka Aakash' made by the department of Journalism & Mass Communication for the 'National Film Making Competition' launched by the UGC, has been declared one of the best films and won this competition. The film is shot in Manipal University Jaipur.

The film is made to highlight the menace of ragging. It revolves around a brilliant, sparkling student of rural area, whose ultimate dream is to become a doctor and treat his grandfather. Although the student (name) is not economically sound enough to bear the fees of medical education, but due his extraordinary performance in the higher secondary level the state government sponsors his medical education. The student right after getting admission in decent medical college, becomes a victim of ragging and commits suicide. Although the shocking incident deprives the only hope of his grandfather but the gentle old man is still optimistic about sending the children to college as education is the only hope to change their life as he states Bachhe humari ummedein hain, inhe khoob padhna chaihye.
