Head, Department of Physical Education , Sports and Yoga

Dr Rina Poonia is currently working as Director Sports, and an Associate Professor (Senior Scale) in the Department of Physical Education Sports and Yoga, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts, MUJ

She joined Manipal University Jaipur in June 2015. She did her Master of Physical Education from University Rajasthan Jaipur and earned her Ph.D. from Mohan Lal Sukhadia University Udaipur. She has 20 years of teaching and administrative experience in the field of Physical Education and Sports.

Dr Rina has contributed to research by presenting many research papers in International and National Conferences & Seminars. She has published two books, editor of nine books too and over thirty-five papers in reputed national and international UGC CARE, SCOPUS and Web of Science listed journals. She is the member of many national & International organizations & journals. She is also worked as a PI on a project funded by MYAS, Delhi, GoI. She has been supervising research scholars and six students have been awarded PhD degree under her supervision. She has a vast experience as an administrator in the field of promotion and organization of sports activities and organized 5 International Conferences, many seminars, and workshops and 8 All India and West Zone Inter University Tournaments. She has been involved in many academic activities like designing courses, Member of BoS and Member Faculty Board. She has excelled in sports in Cross Country & 5 km Walk and participated in various sports events such as Basketball, Volleyball, Football and Kabbaddi at State, National and All India Inter University Competitions. Dr. Poonia is awarded by Govt. of Rajasthan as a Best Athletics Coach in 2009 at New Rajasthan P.G. College Jhunjhunu Rajasthan, and awarded as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Award 2016 and Sports India Best Conference of the Year Award 2017 by IISGS. She has conducted 30th AGM of AIU Sports Board at Manipal University Jaipur. She is actively working as a member of various committees at Manipal University Jaipur, AIU and Khelo India University Games. She represented India in world university games 2023 at Chengdu Chinna as AIU official in Athletics.
