The session began with the Guest Lecture by the Sh. Laxman Singh who talked to the
audience about his journey in the late 70's towards water conservation due to scarcity of
water in his village. Sh. Laxman Singh Ji spoke about the Chowka system, a traditional water
harvesting method in Rajasthan. He founded the NGO Gram Vikas Navyuvak Mandal
Laporiya (GVNML). The efforts of Sh. Laxman Singh Ji has borne fruits in a drought-ridden
small village (Lapodiya), 80 km from Jaipur. Expert talked about the need to stay connected
to nature and to lead a simplistic lifestyle. The session was curated in the form of a talk show
by Dr. Appoorv Saxena from School of Journalism & Mass Communication. The session was
highly interactive as there were questions from the Faculty Members and Research scholars
in the audience.
