Expert Lecture on Forensic Psychology in everyday life: Understanding Crime and Behaviour

The Department of Psychology proposes to conduct a guest lecture on Forensic Psychology in Everyday Life. The resource person is Dr. S.L. Vaya who is a distinguished expert in Forensic Psychology and Neuro-criminology in India. She is currently Project Head at Security and Scientific Technical Research Association (SASTRA), Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), and Chief Mentor & Emeritus Resource Faculty at School of Behavioral Sciences and Forensic Investigations (SBSFI), RRU. This lecture aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of forensic psychology as part of the PS3245- Forensic Psychology curriculum, emphasizing its real-world applications in criminal investigations, legal decision-making, and rehabilitation. It will also shed light on career opportunities in this dynamic field. The workshop aligns with SDGs 3: Good Health and Well-being, 4: Quality Education, and 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. The student will gain insights into criminal psychology, deception detection, and victim psychology, learn about job roles such as criminal profiler, forensic consultant, and legal psychologist, and enhance everyday decision-making, critical thinking, psychological assessment, and investigative reasoning skills.
