The Legal Aid Clinic of Faculty of Law, Manipal University Jaipur organized an awareness event to highlight the significance of the Right to Education under the Constitution of India & the relevant statutory provisions. The day was special as the event coincided with the birthday celebration of the Founder Doyen, Dr. Ramdas Pai who continues to lead with his visionary leadership, and the significant eminence of the Manipal Group of Institutions.
The chief guest, Ms. Arzoo Khan, Advocate, Rajasthan High Court and Founder & Executive Editor, Asgar Khan Advocate Charitable Trust, along with Mr. Rishabh Yadav, Advocate and volunteer of the Trust, and Mr. Hemendra Singh, Principal, Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Dehmi Kalan, addressed the gathering. They enlightened villagers and students on the importance of the Right to Education, explaining its evolution as a fundamental right. The speakers also emphasized free and compulsory education for children up to 14 years, the provision of reserved seats in private schools, and other charitable initiatives of the Trust, including free career counselling for students.
Earlier, Prof. (Dr.) Bharti, Dean, Faculty of Law; Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Laxmi, Chairperson of the Legal Aid Clinic and Prof. (Dr.) Sonu Agarwal, Head of Department, addressed the audience. They highlighted the objectives of the Legal Aid Clinic, which has been serving the local community since 2015 with the support of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) & other NGOs.
To further spread awareness, law students presented a skit showcasing the value of education, followed by a cultural performance where a student played the guitar and sang inspirational songs “Aashayein” and “Taare Zameen Par.” The program successfully combined awareness with cultural expression, reinforcing education as a fundamental right and reaffirming the mission of the Legal Aid Clinic to serve the community.
