The Department of Law, in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, proposes to conduct a guest lecture on Forensic Psychology: Deciphering the Mental Aspect of Crime and Criminals for Effective Justice. Mens Rea is the most critical aspect of a crime. Mens Rea, a mental aspect, can only be proved through circumstantial evidence or expert evidence. However, the degree of intention and the motive is what determines the culpability. Forensic psychology is a subject area that not only helps determine the psychological aspects of a crime but can be a game changer in an effective criminal justice system. The lecture aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of forensic psychology, emphasizing its real-world applications in criminal investigations, legal decision-making, and rehabilitation. It will also shed light on career opportunities in this dynamic field. The workshop aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities; SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions; SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.

The student will gain insights into criminal psychology, deception detection, and victim psychology, learn about job roles such as criminal profiler, forensic consultant, and legal psychologist, and enhance everyday decision-making, critical thinking, psychological assessment, and investigative reasoning skills.
