OVERVIEW

 

The department of Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) was established in the year 2011, with the inception of Manipal University Jaipur. Over years the department of Electronics & Communication Engineering has been on the path of growth with its experienced and dedicated faculty with the sole aim of providing optimum learning environment for imparting scientific knowledge to develop practical design engineers of highest calibre. Keeping pace with the changing technological trends, needs and expectations of the society, the department has adapted itself with continuous involvement of its stakeholders and acquired new capabilities. ECE graduates from MUJ have spread around the country and globe in various industries.

The academic programs at Department of ECE, Manipal University Jaipur are designed and regularly revised with involvement of industry experts and hands-on experience with well-equipped VLSI lab, embedded system lab, simulation lab, Communication Lab, circuit lab, and semiconductor device fabrication lab.

The field of Electronics and Communication engineering encompasses many subfields like signal processing, semiconductor chip design, telecommunication, data communication networks, satellite and radar link setup, embedded systems, robotics and many more. This not only opens the doorway to job but also interdisciplinary specializations in higher studies like Embedded Systems, VLSI, Wireless communication, Signal Processing. ECE students have a wider choice to explore the diversified course bucket to pursue their interest in communication systems, devices, and electronic circuits, together with assembly languages, programming languages, and embedded systems. Therefore, the ECE students enjoy complete freedom to take up software as well as hardware industry. The ECE students also have the opportunity to explore top public companies and government jobs too.

The faculty at ECE always motivate and nurture students’ inclination towards research and development with access to sophisticated PCB prototyping machine and software like SYNOPSYS, HFSS, and MATLAB. The students are promoted to develop projects and publish research papers in national/international conferences and Journals of repute. Various technical chapters and clubs at the department have been instrumental in providing industrial exposure to the students and participate in technical competitions and cultural activities.

PROGRAMS

 

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, School of Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering, FOE offers the following programs:

 

B. TECH. PROGRAM

The academic program is designed in such a way that the students are free to choose electives not only for domain specific targeted study but for their overall personality development as per NEP-2020. The elective course buckets multidisciplinary courses as well as courses from humanities and basic sciences. Students are continuously evaluated based on unannounced quizzes and several assignments which allows them to have strong fundamental background as well as allows them to prepare for competitive exams. Every program follows Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

 

The department of ECE offers B. Tech (Electronics & Communication Engineering) with an aim to provide students a strong foundation in the fundamentals of Electronics and Communications Engineering. Wide range of courses like modern communication systems, analog and digital electronics, signal processing, embedded systems, programming languages etc the students are prepared to straddle the overlapping fields of Electronics, Communications and Computer Science.

 

With an aim to prepare the skilled graduates who knows the keys aspects of VLSI Design which is required in VLSI domain Industries, the department launches AICTE approved new programme of B. Tech in Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology). Through this course, graduates will develop an in-depth understanding of semiconductor devices, VLSI circuit design and verification, FPGA design, fabrication process, along with hands-on experience with leading EDA (Electronic Design & Automation) tools. The evergreen VLSI domain is for design and verification of electronics systems and circuits and its applications are found in areas like Communications, Signal & Image Processing, Space Research and Automation Industry.

 

 

M.TECH. PROGRAM

The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering offers M Tech programs in VLSI & Embedded Systems Design. M. Tech programs will cover the fundamentals and engineering aspect of designing and developing IC based systems.

 

 

PH.D. PROGRAM

The department provides a Ph.D. program in different verticals of electronics and communication engineering to foster research. Throughout the program, students will receive expert guidance from experienced faculty to cultivate their research skills and pursue independent research within the domains of Antenna and Mobile Communication, Robotics, Optoelectronics and Photonics, VLSI/MEMS Design and Technology, and Wireless Communication and IoT culminating in a doctoral thesis. Research scholars are expected to contribute to teaching programs, present their scientific findings at national and international conferences, and publish their research in scholarly journals.

COMMUNICATION LAB

This lab provides an overview of the basic Communication based experiments where students would learn how transmitter and receiver system works. The student would have an opportunity to make projects sample as well

This lab provides the basic exposure to sequential and combinations circuits-based experiments and 8086 microprocessor-based programming using kit based experiments
