MUJ students visited University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland under Summer University Program

This concept of Summer University (SU) departs from the way of doing things, in that it is mainly based on an essentially practical knowledge of the inner workings of companies, complementing the theoretical knowledge acquired by students as part of their studies during the academic year

It was a joint program of Manipal University Jaipur-India, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) Beijing-China and University of Applied Science, Yverdon Les bains, Switzerland. Participation were like as form MUJ: 07 students and 01 professor, BIT 08 students and 01 professor and University of Applied Sciences 05 students and two professors.

It was a two weeks program and two groups were made of 10 students each. There were eight companies assigned to groups. The topics that students analyzed inside the companies they visited vary from session to session. However, they might always include different aspects of human factors, since these Summer Universities are dedicated to cross-cultural issues of society in which companies are living. In addition to this topic, one or two different subjects – related to Universities academic syllabus involved in the session – were proposed to each project team. Examples of such topics: business information systems, sustainable development, marketing, supply chain management, corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship, research & development, quality and security management, financial international environment.

It was a great learning for us as we came to know about project management, cross culture understanding and team work.
