Event Title: Social outreach program focussed on the environment and health awareness of COVID-19 and its variants

With the recent outbreak of Omicron, the new variant of COVID -19, it was a necessity to again create awareness on health and the environment. The event primarily focused on imparting knowledge on the importance of health awareness in times of the ongoing deadly COVID-19 pandemic. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and environmental hygiene have strong links to prevent the spread of this virus. The main agenda of the day was to again revive a social awakening for health and hygiene. The program was organized for the students at Sai Horizon Senior Secondary School under the supervision of Dr. Mousumi Debnath, Outreach coordinator, Department of Biosciences, and Faculty Coordinator of Biotech Club. The students of the Club actively took part in this societal activity by imparting knowledge to the young minds on the online mode. They reached them with their presentations, songs, do and don’t in a lucid manner that was easy for those students to understand the real impact of the new danger and also ways to be ready to overcome the impact of the virus. The event commenced with a welcome speech addressed by Ms. Anshulika Saxena, B who anchored the event. Dr. Mousumi Debnath addressed the students and the faculty of Sai Horizon Sr. Sec. School regarding the importance of health and the impact of the environment at this crucial time of the new outbreak of this virus. Prof. A.D. Vyas, Director of Students welfare also emphasized the importance of keeping the environment clean. Throwing more light into the modus operandi of the disease pathogenesis of this virus and the role of social workers to combat the situation during the pandemic was presented by Mr. Anvarshu Gopal and Ms. Divya. This was followed by a series of precautions one can take to prevent themselves from contracting COVID-19 by Ms. Sonali Lalwani. An entertaining song on COVID 19 was sung by Mr. Rahul Srivastava. Following this was a presentation and discussion on the Government of India’s initiative of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by Dr. Rashi Nathawat and Dr. Vipin Kumar, Outreach Coordinators, Department of Physics. Towards the end of the event, an interactive session was held by Dr. Ashima Bagaria, HOD, Department of Physics. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the event coordinators of Manipal University, Jaipur. In total 51 students of grade 11th from Sai Horizon School and 20 students from Manipal University, Jaipur participated in the event. It was a wonderful experience for everyone to engage and interact about the ongoing pandemic and to understand how to stay alert and healthy.
