Manipal University JaipurAn Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) sponsored ‘Special Lecture’ was organized at MUJ on Feb 11, 2019.The title of the Lecture was ‘Towards a Philosophy of Biography’. The lecture was delivered by eminent intellectual and philosopher Professor Aakash Singh Rathore who is an International Fellow of the Centre for Ethics and Global Politics-LUISS (Italy).Professor Aakash has an extensive experience of teaching at various universities including Jawaharlal Nehru University (Delhi), the Universities of Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad (India), Rutgers at Pennsylvania (USA), Toronto (Canada), Humboldt-Berlin (Germany), LUISS-Rome (Italy) andLouvain (Belgium). He is the Director of the International Research Network for Religion and Democracy, and the Executive Editor of the journal ‘Plurilogue’. He is the Series Editor of ‘Ethics, Human Rights and Global Political Thought’ (Routledge) and ‘Religion and Democracy: Re-conceptualizing Religion, Culture, and Politics in Global Context’ (Oxford University Press).

 

Speaking on the occasion Professor Rathore stated that in exploring different literary forms and orientations of the autobiographies, the work remains constantly attuned to the physical body, a focus generally absent from literary criticism and philosophy or study of leading historical personages, with the exception of patches within phenomenological philosophy and feminism. The Lecture session was very well received by teachers as well as students and initiated strong discussion on the discussed topics. Dr. Roshni Babu (Assistant Professor) was the convener of this ‘Invited Special Lecture’. The programme was co-convened by Dr. Saad Ullah Khan and ably coordinated by Professor Anthony Savari Raj (HOD, Dept. of Arts),Dr. Aivinor AMS, Dr. Rina Poonia, Dr. Pradeep Singh Chahhar, Dr. Aditi and Mr Jasbir Singh.
