The ACM India chapters’ Summit-2019, hosted by Manipal University Jaipur's ACM Student Chapter on the 10th of August 2019 was a stunning success. The event witnessed participation of about 100 students from 48 institutions from all over India along with their faculty mentors. The event started off with the lighting of the symbolic lamp, followed by cultural performances from the University's clubs. The president of ACM India, Prof. Abhiram Ranade, professor at IIT Bombay started the presentation by highlighting the goal of ACM, the advancement of computing as a science and profession. Emphasizing the aim of ACM, he spoke about the numerous divisions and various activities of ACM. Dr. Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, the director of SCIT at MUJ spoke about the growth of MUJ ACM Students Chapter, and highlighted the various activities undertaken by the chapter, like the student teaching student mentorship program and interactive sessions, including the annual techno-cultural fest of the chapter, ELICIT.

The Summit also witnessed two truly enlightening talks for the audience. The first keynote speaker was Mr. R. Venkateshwaran, senior vice president, Persistent Systems, whose topic of discussion was Technology Trends: A Perspective. The second keynote speaker was professor Neeldhara Misra, IIT Gandhinagar whose topic of conversation was the usage of algorithms to solve hard and complex problems. The sessions were fun, interactive, and highly educational for the students present.

 

As the Summit drew towards its end, Manipal University Jaipur's ACM Student Chapter, as the runner up of the Best ACM Chapter Awards was given the opportunity to give a presentation on the past work and future plans of the Chapter to the entire gathering along with the winners from PICT Pune, while the rest of the chapters' work was displayed in a poster gallery in the University.

 

The participants of the ACM India Chapters Technology Solution Contest sponsored by iCERTIS were given the opportunity to present their ideas to the panel of judges present, and faced questions regarding the same. This culminated with the worthy team winning the title and receiving the grand prize from the jury. With a few words on the spirit of innovation, of computing and creativity, the Summit came to an end. Vote of thanks given by President ACM India Prof. Abhiram Ranade, Director SCIT Prof. Rajveer S.
