PROGRAM DETAILS - B Tech (Hons) Civil Engineering with Specialization in Geoinformatics

OVERVIEW

  • Civil Engineering department of Manipal University Jaipur was established in 2011. It provides outstanding higher education in structural, geotechnical, transportation, construction engineering and management, environmental and water resource via state-of-the-art infrastructure and devoted faculties. By contributing to exceptional academics, a rich alumni legacy, and fulfilling the fundamental requirements of our society through cutting-edge research activities and people connect, the department has achieved a level of excellence. The department of civil engineering provides a four-year full-time B. Tech. (Hons.) in Civil Engineering with specialization in Geoinformatics which include industry internships, experiential learning, field visits and project work that is spaced out over eight semesters.
  • Geoinformatics is an inter-disciplinary programme that teaches students how to use geospatial technology to solve real-world problems in the environmental, earth sciences, social and economic realms. The core strength of the programme lies in its creative curriculum, which introduces current and prospective professionals with existing knowledge on development challenges.  It introduces basics of remote sensing and computerized GIS database management system to civil engineering students, with subsequent strengthening their professional exposure.

The purpose of introducing the program is to develop expertise in the application of geospatial technologies in civil engineering and related domains. It is intended to transform the students into GIS-skilled professional civil engineers, through the teaching and learning processes of remote sensing and GIS. The knowledge of Geospatial Technology promises the employment prospects of students in both government and non-government organisations significantly around the globe. The practical GIS-approach towards understanding the civil engineering-related problems helps students to match-up their skills well with the growing demands in the industry of Geo-Spatial technology. ELIGIBILITY

MET 2022 Rank Holder

The candidate must have passed 10+2/A Level/IB/American 12th grade or equivalent examination with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects, along with any one of Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology/Statistics or Engineering Drawing as optional subject for admission to B Tech, with minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics, and the optional subject, put together.

 

Direct admission

For direct admission (in branches where seats are likely to remain vacant) the following candidates will be eligible:

  •  All remaining MET 2022 rank holders, i.e., those who did not/could not come for counselling

       OR

  • All students who have a JEE rank and have qualified for JEE advanced in that year

      OR

  • Based on the SAT score

      OR

  • All other Students with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects and who have 60% or equivalent (in PMX subjects) in their 12th standard (where X could be Chemistry/Computers Science/ Biotechnology/Biology/Statistics/ Engineering Drawing)
